CTDOT Visual Inspection: Connecticut Commuter Rail Stations
The purpose of this project was to conduct an evaluation, visual inspection and limited physical testing of the platforms/canopies, station buildings and pedestrian bridges (cross-track bridges and the bridges connecting the platforms to adjacent parking structures) at 43 of Connecticut’s commuter rail stations. The information collected from this assessment was used to establish conditions of the platforms/canopies, station buildings and pedestrian bridges and to develop a prioritized repair and improvement program for the 43 commuter rail stations.

Completed Tasks

- Data collection and review of design plans for the stations, station inspection and inventory data and relevant inspection reports.
- Preparation of project work plan and coordination of field review.
- Conducted field reviews of 43 commuter rail stations.
- Developed proposed repair and improvement program based on the results of the field inspection and evaluation.
- Prepared reports to document visual inspection and evaluation efforts.
- Attended meetings during this assignment as needed to coordinate the visual inspection work efforts.
- Prepared meeting minutes for documentation.
