The Morris Park Locomotive Shop facility was proposed as a replacement of the previous shop constructed and placed into service in 1889 and demolished in 2009. The Morris Park Locomotive Shop project provided the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) a new, modern 21st Century locomotive maintenance facility for the railroad’s fleet of DE 30 and DM 30 diesel and dual-mode diesel-electric locomotives. This project maximized yard functionality and avoided the disturbance to neighboring residential areas to the greatest extent possible. The Design of the interior configuration of the new shop was to maximize efficiency and worker productivity and to incorporate provisions for a future wye track replacing the aging locomotive turntable. LIRR tasked a study to achieve these requirements. To implement the report, drawings were developed to 90% stage.

- Garg Consulting Services, Inc. (Garg) supported the design effort and developed the design for heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC), and Site Lighting including exterior power.
- Garg reviewed and verified 90% staged drawings and made appropriate changes updating and revising the drawings to 100% level for construction.
- This included coordination with the Architectural and all other Service drawings.
- The design for HVAC and Site Lighting addressed the “Performance and Design Criteria Document” and be in accordance with contract specifications.
- Garg also provided construction support of review of shop drawings and testing and commissioning the facility along with “As-Built” drawings at the end of construction activity.
