Project Profile
Garg will perform annual safety inspections of thirty-five (35) railroad bridges in southwestern Connecticut on the Metro-North Railroad (MNRR) mainline, spanning from the New York State Line to New Haven, as well as its three (3) branch lines: New Canaan, Danbury, and Waterbury. The inspections will be conducted in accordance with AREMA, FRA, and the CTDOT Railroad Bridge Inspection Manual.
The major project tasks include the following:
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate each bridge inspection with CTDOT, MNRR, local agencies, and local police forces.
- Providing requisite traffic control and necessary access equipment (e.g., man lifts, barges with scaffolding, etc.) to safely complete inspections.
- Performing routine inspections of each bridge to assess the structure’s physical condition.
- Conducting 100% hands-on inspection of any fracture-critical members and/or fatigue-prone details of the bridge.
- Documenting bridge deficiencies using field notes, measurements, and photographs.
- Performing non-destructive testing of critical components, as needed.
- Updating condition evaluation and inventory data.
- Performing analysis and evaluation of structural load capacity, as field conditions dictate.
- Prioritizing maintenance recommendations as required and submitting them according to CTDOT guidelines.
- Compiling all the information to create a final report using InspectTech software
- Conducting internal QA/QC reviews of all inspection procedures and reports prior to submission to CTDOT.
