Project Profile
Garg is providing construction inspection and management services to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) for the bridge deck replacement of the Dewitt Avenue Bridge over the Sprain Brook and Bronx River Parkways. Since 2022, the bridge’s capacity has been reduced, which has restricted vehicle and pedestrian traffic on this 300-foot multi-span bridge. This contract will replace the bridge deck and approaches, utilizing staged construction to reconnect the neighboring Yonkers residents to Bronxville’s commercial district while maintaining sidewalk access integral to the community’s transit commuters. Key elements of the project include
- Replacement of the bridge deck based on all current NYSDOT standards, including new link slabs and integral abutments.
- Replacement of the bridge lighting, increasing the number of luminaires for enhanced visibility
- Installing fences, guiderails, ADA sidewalks, scuppers, and granite curbs
- Performing 8,000 SY of milling and paving with pavement markings restoration
- Reconstruction of the wing walls at the approaches.
- Replacement of structural steel members.
- Localized lead abatement of girders and diaphragms to facilitate steel replacements and repairs.
