Project Profile
The purpose of this project was the relocation of PATCO’s control center from Camden to Lindenwold. The Contract 11-H project involved the construction of a new two-story structural steel building, approximately 100’ x 80’, and a parking area constructed within the PATCO Shop and Yard complex. The first floor provides offices for the management and administrative staff of PATCO’s transit services department. The second floor houses the control center and displays for train dispatches and all other telecommunication purposes.
This building is set on an 83’ deep composite piling system. Each 14” diameter circular steel composite pile was driven to a minimum of 47’ deep by a single-stroke diesel hammer to TIP elevation, and then the piles were filled with concrete. Finally, a reinforced pile cap and pier with reinforced concrete received the structural steel frame.
Garg Consulting Services, Inc. provided construction management services for the new facility. Garg’s responsibilities included inspection and assurance of adherence to designer drawings and specifications for architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical aspects of the project. Responsibilities also included coordination with all subcontractors and client management teams and submitting progress reports on a daily basis. Garg worked collaboratively to resolve project issues with the designers, contractors, and their subs.
