Project Profile

Metro-North Railroad conducts frequent cleaning of its stations (platforms, stairs, and overpasses) using high-pressure washers as part of its ongoing maintenance program. Above-ground high-pressure/high-temperature dry lines, consisting of water pipes, tubes, and fittings, are installed at numerous stations to allow maintenance crews to safely connect to a portable pressurized water source for cleaning tasks. In general, the piping consists of ¾” diameter galvanized steel pipe that runs from points A to B at each station, with an inlet every 120 feet (to accommodate 60-foot hoses). Twenty-five (25) stations on the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven lines are identified to receive new dry line systems.
