Project Profile

Platforms at Derby-Shelton, Ansonia, Seymour, Bacon Falls, and Waterbury stations will be replaced with high-level platforms to maintain compliance with both State and Metro-North Railroad (MNR) safety and design standards and to ensure safe boarding with the future fleet of rail cars. The new platforms will be a fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) plank on steel girder design with an electric-heated platform section. The project also includes a renovation of the Derby-Shelton station building and tie-in to adjacent upgrades to the Waterbury station waiting room.

Garg is providing Electrical, Lighting, and Communications design services for this project. Project tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Visiting the sites to survey the existing site conditions and document the electrical, lighting, and communication systems within the project limits.
  • Design of CCTV, site, and platform lighting, EV and bus chargers, and associated distribution and control infrastructure.
  • Coordination of security fencing around standby generators and associated electrical equipment.
  • Standby emergency power generation, including detailed utility coordination.
  • 30%, 60%, 90%, and Final (100%) Design Submission – Garg is providing electrical and communications specifications, plans, and details for the project design reports, design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimate in accordance with CTDOT specifications.
  • Construction Phase Services including bid document addenda, responding to RFIs, etc.
