This $32.5 Million contract calls for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the Roseville Tunnel, which is part of the NJ Transit’s larger Lackawanna Cutoff Restoration Project. This contract provided the project’s first construction phase. The Roseville Tunnel is a key part of the passenger-rail service from Port Morris to a proposed station in Andover, NJ, and was proposed after Hurricane Sandy struck the New Jersey coastline in 2012. The project was completed in late summer 2023.

This project entailed Design Services for the NJ Transit Roseville Tunnel Rehabilitation and Associated Track Bed Works Project. Garg’s responsibilities included the design of temporary and permanent lighting in the tunnel, design of the utility service feed from the main power source to the tunnel portal, and supplying electric power for the tunnel lighting, communications, and security systems.

- Design of as-built drawings for permanent lighting and power supply.
- Design of the temporary power supply for all systems during construction.
- Identifying the proper panel to feed lighting circuits, showing the cable and conduit size, powering the panel from JCP&L and outing for each lighting circuit.
- Providing a panel schedule showing new loads for the relevant panels used and providing a voltage drop and conduit fill for the new loads for permanent lighting.
- Performing a “Short circuit analysis” using SKM software.
- Oversight to ensure total compliance with all NJ Transit requirements with emphasis on safety and coordination of work.
