The New York City Transit Flushing Line is a vital artery for subway access throughout Queens and is one of the most heavily traveled routes in the subway system. The purpose of the Flushing Line Improvement Project is to replace existing escalators at the 61 Street-Woodside Station and the 74th Street Broadway Station, to perform state of good repair (SoGR) improvements at the 61st Street-Woodside Station, and to perform overcoat painting on the Flushing Line in the Borough of Queens between 48th Street and 72nd Street.

- The 61st Street-Woodside Station is an elevated station at the intersection of 61st Street and Roosevelt Avenue. Work includes restoration of the existing track bed and repairs to the existing track support structure, reconstruction of the island platforms, and structural repairs throughout the station.
- The 74th Street-Broadway Station is an elevated station at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Broadway, serving the 7 Line. The work at this station includes the replacement of three (3) existing street-to-mezzanine escalators.
- The work on the Mainline Structure between 48th Street to 72nd Street and Roosevelt Avenue includes surface preparation, removal of paint, lead, dirt, and other substances, and application of alkyd paint to the steel girders and other associated elements.
- SoGR Inspections for all structures:
61st Street Woodside Station
- Complete inspection of the steel superstructure supporting the platforms, including platform girders, stair stringers, associated bracing members, and steel bents that support the platform girders; inspection of the Mezzanine levels above the LIRR platforms; inspection of the platform canopies.
­74th Street Broadway Station
- Repair and replacement of deteriorated structural beams in the roof over the escalators and floor under the expansion joint between the escalators and the station.
­ Mainline Structure 48th Street through 72nd Street - Complete inspection of the steel elements above the track level; inspection of the Mezzanine levels above the LIRR platforms.
- Preparation of drawings and specifications containing required repair details to bring the 61st Street (Woodside) Station, 74th Street (Broadway) Station and Mainline Structure to a SoGR. The drawings will contain layouts, structural framing plans, typical sections, and repair details.
